Rethink Oakland is a civic initiative made up of residents who once accepted the dominant assumptions of Bay Area politics but can no longer defend their results. It brings together people who have watched the town deteriorate under leaders more loyal to ideology than to the people who live here, and who believe it is no longer responsible to stay silent for the sake of social conformity.

This community is for Oaklanders who are willing to step outside the approved script — people who care about outcomes more than appearances, who believe that safety and competence are not negotiable, and who reject the idea that decline must be tolerated because it is politically convenient.

Rethink Oakland is for those who feel the pressure to pretend everything is fine, but know it is not — for residents who are ready to think differently, speak honestly, and help build a new civic culture in the town. It is not for those content with inherited beliefs; it is for those willing to break with them for the sake of Oakland’s future.
